"FROM HURT THROUGH HOPE TO HEALING"
My wife Madge and I have a good friend in Ireland. Her name is Sr. Cecilia Molloy, a Presentation sister who was once Madge's favourite teacher. Since retiring from education, Cecilia has put a lot of energy into 'Rainbows Ireland' — an organisation that helps children to come through the storm of loss and grieving. The twelve week program ends with a special day called the ‘Celebrate Me Day’.
So, as a gift for Cecilia, I wrote a song with that title - 'Celebrate Me Day. She told me that when she first heard the recording, she liked it so much she started dancing round the room.
FROM RAINBOWS IRELAND WEBSITE
'Rainbows' is a non profit making, international organisation that provides curricula for establishing peer support groups for children, youth and adults who have experienced a death, separation, divorce or other painful transition in their family. We facilitate them through the grieving process by implementing the 'Rainbows' curricula in schools, parish and pastoral settings and other social agencies. Such grief needs support as well as healing. This need is increasing each passing year. The aim of the programme is to give participants an understanding of their new family unit and to assist them in the building of self-esteem; and to direct them towards a healthy acceptance of the changes that have taken place in their lives.
After the storm in their lives, Rainbows provides the guidance children need to work through their grief.
A GIFT OF SONG is the name of my album (CD and CD-Rom) on which this song was included. Scroll down for more information on related resources./
lyrics
CELEBRATE ME DAY
CHORUS: Let’s celebrate me. Let’s celebrate you.
Let’s celebrate me and you coming through the storm
Put some candles on the cake.
Cream and jelly on your plate
To celebrate me and you coming through…
Let’s celebrate me. Let’s celebrate you.
1. On ‘Celebrate Me Day’
See the sun come shining through.
On ‘Celebrate Me Day’
When the sun comes shining through the rain
You know what that’s gonna make…
It’s gonna make a rainbow.
A beautiful rainbow. CHORUS
2. On ‘Celebrate Me Day’
Feel the hope come smiling through.
On ‘Celebrate Me Day’
When the hope comes smiling through the pain
You know what that’s gonna make…
It’s gonna make a rainbow.
A beautiful rainbow.
CHORUS: Let’s celebrate me. Let’s celebrate you.
Let’s celebrate me and you coming through the storm
Put some candles on the cake.
Cream and jelly on your plate
To celebrate me and you coming through…
Let’s celebrate me. Let’s celebrate you.
For coming through.
