Dorothy Ann Soper During this pandemic, we entrust ourselves to you Lord.
Shine on our lives, as a sign of salvation and hope.
Give us the strength to be with those suffering in this crisis.
We ask you, Lord to bless those who share with others.
We take Comfort Lord, in knowing that we are together with you.

NOTES on 'Pentecost':
This is one of five songs I wrote on a commission initiated by Fr. Caryl Grew who was then the director of the CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), an organisation that provides religious-education materials for catechists working in state schools. The songs were part of the 'Joy for Living' series, designed for primary aged children (Year 4).

Later, with the permission of CCD I included the five songs on the 'Celebration' album - my first album especially for children.

lyrics

PENTECOST
When the Lord was gone the disciples were afraid.
When the Lord was gone they stayed inside all day.
With the windows locked and barred, big bolts on the door
But when the Spirit came they felt afraid no more.

CHORUS: Pentecost, oh Pentecost
All is gained and nothing lost.
When the Spirit came
Everyone was changed.

When they were alone the disciples were confused.
When they were alone - oh they were confused.
Then the wind came blowing hard, blew their clouds from sight.
When the Spirit came, then they saw the light. CHORUS

When the Lord was gone the disciples were so sad.
When the Lord was gone, oh they were so sad.
Flames of fire blazing down - this is what they saw.
When the Spirit came, they were sad no more. CHORUS

When the Lord was gone the disciples lost their love.
When the Lord was gone - oh they lost their love.
But God the Father sent to them a helper and a friend.
When the Spirit came, they found their love again. CHORUS X 2
