NOTES: 'Heal me, Help me, Save Me' is track from my first studio-album, 'Turn It All Around' (Songs for Peace and Justice), an album that was inspired by friendship with Fr. Ted Kennedy. From the early 1970s Ted had been the priest at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Redfern, where he gave a special welcome to the many Aboriginal people who lived in that area. People came from all over Sydney to attend Mass at Redfern and many became involved in the Redfern community.
Ted Kennedy was also a family friend and he often called at our home near Mittagong when he traveled to the Southern Highlands for a break from his Redfern ministry. Many of my songs arose out of conversations with Ted and he was always among the first to hear a new song. Sometimes his comments and suggestions helped to form a song.

lyrics
HEAL ME, HELP ME, SAVE ME
You are all a part of my body
So you can’t be healed by yourself.
If you are a part of my body
Your healing will be my health.
But see my body is wounded
Oh I’m nearly broken in two
And see my heart is pierced
And my blood’s spilling out over you...
I’m bleeding. Nearly dead. Heal me.
You are all a part of my family.
What you own should be common wealth;
If you are a part of my family
Then you can’t be rich by yourself.
But look - half my children are starving
With no roof to shelter their heads
And some of my children are so poor and sick
This time next year they’ll be dead.
I’m hungry. I’m sick. Help me.
Well you may be a part of my Kingdom
But you won’t get saved by yourself
And there shouldn’t be any more fighting
In the open or by stealth.
But see my world is divided
And the North hates the West hates the East.
While the bombs are poised for destruction
Which of you is speaking for peace?
I tremble. I’m scared. Save me.
There’s a Tree that grows in my Kingdom
And they call it the Tree of Life.
Its leaves are for the healing of nations,
A cure for injustice and strife.
When you make your guns into tractors,
When you change your bombs into bread,
When the homeless all find shelter,
When the poor and the hungry are fed,
When each person is free to be living,
When each cup is full to the brim ...
Only then shall I be healed in mind and heart and limb.
Heal me. Help me. Save me. Heal me.
Help me. Save me. Heal me. Help me. Heal me.
