Come Holy Spirit. I pray in confidence for peace within.
The world is aching for Peace. Inner peace as given by God through grace by prayer and actions are the place to start.
In all things prayer. Starting each morning.
With daily walks every step a prayer.
My petition, that my health will keep up with my ageing.

NOTES on 'Come Now Holy Spirit':
After living in England for twelve years, I returned to Australia in 1982 with Madge and our two children. It was a big move. Irish Madge (O'Brien) was leaving behind her family. And I had decided that I would try to make a living through music (after previously working as a teacher).

I started writing new songs - songs for peace and justice. My old friend and muse, Fr. Ted Kennedy, of St. Vincent's Parish Redfern, showed me a translation of a beautiful old Latin hymn, 'Veni Sancte Spiritus' and suggested it could make a good song. So, I adapted the text, a melody came ... and the song was made.

Nic Lyon, at his Platypus Studio in Brogers Creek, improvised the mandolin parts and Claire Parkhill added her voice and harmony.

In 1984, this song with eleven other new songs, was published by Dove Communications as cassette-tape and music book under the title 'Turn It All Around'.

lyrics

COME NOW HOLY SPIRIT
Come now Holy Spirit come now
Strong like wind and bright like fire.
Come through us, oh help and guide us
Boldly come and make the Earth all new!
Come to us oh Father of the poor
Change for joy what we endure.
Come and bring your peace, your justice and release
Come breaking down our door. Spirit come.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew
On our dryness pour your dew
Wash the stains of guilt away
Guide our steps when we would go astray.
Bend our stubborn heart and will, we pray
Melt the frozen, warm the chill.
Blessed light divine, within our hearts come shine
Our inmost being fill. Spirit come.

Come today and come tomorrow
Solace in the midst of sorrow
Pleasant coolness in the heat
Welcome rest when labour is complete.
Where you can't be found our lives distort
Nothing good in deed or thought.
Nothing free from ill, no-one can fulfill
The need that you have wrought. Spirit come.

Come now Holy Spirit come now
Strong like wind and bright like fire
Come through us, oh help and guide us
Boldly come and make the Earth all new!
Come to us oh Mother of the poor
Change for joy what we endure.
Come and bring your peace, your justice and release
Come breaking down our door. Spirit come.
Spirit come. Spirit come. Spirit come.
