NOTES: I wrote 'God is Good' while living in Ireland 2004-2008. It was gift for our Irish friend, Sr. Cecilia Molloy, who in addition to her work with ‘Rainbows Ireland’ had lived and worked at Mount St. Anne’s Retreat Centre in Killenard, Co. Laois. I was invited to give a concert there and this was to be a song celebrating the mission and ethos of that place.

So, I asked Cecilia if there were any words, images and phrases she could give me as ‘keys’ to the new song. She thought for a few moments, then simply said:
“God is good. I am good. Life is good.”
I tried to keep that lovely, affirming simplicity in the song.

On hearing the song with its stately, measured tread, Bridget McCormack, one of the team at Mount St. Anne’s, devised some steps and movements for a simple Circle Dance. See download link in the Resources section below.

Though 'God is Good' was written primarily for adults, I have performed it many times with primary school children singing the chorus. It sounds lovely as their voices lift and join in the affirmation – “God is good. I am good. Life is good.”

The song is one of fifteen tracks on my 'A Gift of Song' CD. For musicians, there is also ‘A Gift of Song’ CD-Rom with music and lyrics for all songs, plus photos and background information. The equivalent of a 61 page book.
