NOTES on SEVEN GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
The names for the Spirit's gifts keep changing, but the names I use here were current at time of writing.. In this composition and arrangement, I tried to create a stirring, ceremonial feel of initiation.

Over flute/ instrumental sections in the middle and near the end, the names of the gifts are spoken/declaimed rather than sung. The timing is quite tricky but in the recording sessions, I was pleased with how the young people (and adults, a bit more slowly) got the timing right after only a little practice.

'Seven Gifts of the Spirit' is one of eighteen songs/ hymns in my 'GROWING IN GOD' album, which is available as CD and Music Book. 'Growing in God' was intended to to be a useful, communal album conveying key themes of Liturgy and Religious Education.

I think of 'Growing in God' as an all-age collection. That's why I included three choirs (children, teenagers and adults) in recording these songs.
