'Celebration' was one of five songs I wrote on a commission initiated by Fr. Caryl Grew who was at that time Director of the CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), an organisation that provides religious-education materials for catechists working in state schools. The songs were part of the 'Joy for Living' series, designed for primary aged children (Year 4).

I was very grateful to Fr. Grew for this opportunity, which came along soon after I (with wife Madge and two children) had returned from England to Australia intending, hopefully, to make music my full-time work.

Later, with the permission of CCD I included the five songs on the 'Celebration' album - my first album especially for children. The 'Celebration' song, heard here, was the opening track of that album and, in my concerts with school children, it was very often our opening song.
